You're about to go out to the movies. You called up maybe a couple people, maybe dropped some emails or sent some text messages. But the movie starts in an hour and you don't want to spend it trying to organize your friends to go. All it takes is ten seconds on Planypus to let your friends know you're going to the movies, and they can organize themselves to meet you there. It's easy!
Planypus is the fastest and easiest way to make and share plans with your friends! Without the hassle of back and forth phone calls and emails, just post an idea on Planypus, and let your friends fill in the details!
Planypus works by notifying your friends in whatever way they prefer, be it email, sms, rss, or by integrating into your online homepages and calendaring tools, so everyone always knows what's going on. You can set up your notification preferences and learn how to integrate Planypus with your calendar in your profile.
You may have gotten invited by one of your friends and missed the email. Don't worry, just click on I forgot in the password dialog, and we'll send you an email to reset your password!
Yes! When you create an event on evite, fill in the form, then select your friends. The screen they present you for your known friends is a list with check boxes. Once you've done that the next screen is where you're supposed to write your friends a message. On that screen all the email addresses are listed in a text box on the left. You can pull them out of there and paste them directly into the invite box on your event!
When inviting friends to your plan you can click on the import link which will pop up a wizard to help you import emails from a variety of accounts.
Actually, no! Simply add your friends' emails into the invite box when you're planning an activity (or import them from one of your other email accounts) and whether they're registered already or not, they'll get your email and be able to use the service without having to register!
All the plans you make are completely private between you and the people you invite.
To prevent spammers from abusing our service, in order for you to send plans to someone you either have to know their email, or add them as a friend and wait for them to add you as a friend. If you added someone and they have not yet confirmed you, they will appear on your friends page but will not be available in your address book when you're making plans.
We allow any invitees to a particular activity to take charge of the plans, suggest times and places, finalize it or cancel it. If you really have set a time and place, just finalize it so that everyone knows it's not up for debate. Usually having other people take over your plans is a good thing, especially when you don't have time to be the organizer anymore or you're leaving your house and call your friend and tell them to take over the organizing duties :-)
You or your friends can add suggested times and locations to vote on. To vote for something simply click the little checkmark icon. It will light up green to indicate your vote. To remove your vote, click it again, and it will no longer be active.
Sure! In the voting box click on "dates/other". Here you can add miscellaneous items to vote on, and add a little message to make them meaningful if you like!
At this point no, but maybe some time real soon :-). For now, please just cut & paste, or find your past event on your past plans and move the date into the future.
The planspace is a wiki-like area that can be modified by all your guests. It supports full html code, you can even plug in widgets and videos in there!
Any number of you or your friends can be organizers on an event you're planning. Being an organizer just means you're the person people bother when something goes wrong :-). And you get a nifty little orange underline under your name in the guest list. It also lets you do things like finalize or cancel the plan!
When you've decided on the final details of your plans (where or when you're going, usually), you can click finalize to send out a special announcement. Most people will get an email by default when you finalize something, but they can also choose to get the message on their phones for example. This lets them know the plan is in action and that they should meet you at the specified time and place.
Similar to finalization, announcements are higher priority messages that by default go to people's email. Comments are not usually sent out unless the person has specifically chosen to receive comments.
Tagging is the idea of labeling things with keywords so that they're easy to find. You may tag your friends with keywords to put them into groups. You can then use these tags when you're making plans. For example you might tag some of your friends 'dinner' because you like to have dinner with them, and others as 'poker' because you have poker nights. A person can have multiple tags, which puts them in both groups, making it easy for you to send out invites to the right people very quickly.
When your friends invite you to an event it is automatically added to your list of upcoming events. Also, if someone gives you the url to a particular plan, once you visit it, the plan will appear on your calendar.
Well, no. We just despise spam. We will never sell or give away your email address to anyone! We also go to extra care to make sure your email is not exposed on the site for spammers to harvest.
When you are invited to Planypus, you will get an email containing a link. This link allows you to log in without registration. Don't share this link unless you want other people logging in as you :) You can easily change your password by clicking the profile link in the upper right hand corner.
If you want to access the site from other computers, go to your Profile and change your username and password there.
Thanks for your support :) In fact we don't suck, we would very much love to support international, it just takes time. Unfortunately we rely on other companies like Google to get our geocoding info, and if they can't get it right, there's not a whole lot we can do about it right now. Still, Planypus should work just fine for you..except maybe the ability to see local events. Stay tuned for more...
Who are you?. :) We're just a bunch of people who got fed up with trying to plan our friday night dinners. The emails got out of control, the wiki didn't help, and online invitation services were overkill.
